A service keeps your saxophone, clarinet, flute, oboe or bassoon playing at its best. Craig Ferguson Woodwinds provides a comprehensive clean, oil, check and adjustment for every instrument, restoring smooth action, accurate tuning and reliable response. Servicing starts from £200.
Unlike a one-off repair, a full service covers the whole instrument from top to bottom. A typical service includes:
The result is an instrument that feels, responds and sounds the way it should, not just one with individual faults patched up.
Regular servicing prevents small issues becoming bigger, more costly problems. Most woodwind instruments benefit from a full service every 12 to 18 months, or annually for instruments played frequently, such as those used for lessons, orchestra or gigging. A well-serviced instrument responds more easily, holds its tuning better and is more comfortable to play across all registers.
Craig Ferguson previously led saxophone servicing and repairs at Howarth of London, and has trained under respected technicians including Daniel Bangham, Neil Clark and Paul Charman, alongside completing the Trevor Head Woodwind course. His servicing work is trusted by professional musicians including Graeme Blevins (RAYE, Kylie Minogue), James Mollison (Ezra Collective) and Andy McKay (Roxy Music), as well as students and dedicated players across Dorset.

Having dropped my Saxophone from table height onto a hard tiled floor I desperately needed to find somewhere to get it repaired. Craig was recommended to me and was amazingly quick in responding and organising collection. I had done considerable damage and was worried it was beyond repair but with Craig’s skill set he quickly diagnosed everything that needed doing and within a week had my saxophone back to me sounding even better than before! His professional approach and excellent repair means I would definitely use him again and certainly recommend him to anyone I can tell him about. I have even had two other players say what a lovely tone it has 👍Posted on Google![]()
